But I Don't Want To.
I want to ask you a question... Have you ever found yourself in a 'But I Don't Want To' position, as it relates to what the Holy Spirit asks you?
I don't mind being in this boat by myself, because I want to be honest more than anything. But I'm asking you in case you've been there, are there now, or if you get there, then I've done the leg work & can save you some time 😉.
The other day I asked my son why he wasn't using his listening ears in class, and his answer tripped me out! He said, 'But I Don't Want To listen mommy'. I didn't know what to do, but I knew that I was driving, so there wasn't too much I could do, lol. But let me tell you where God will pluck you & make you aware of yourself, if you've allowed Him to invade your territory!
I had no immediate response for my three year old son... I had to take a moment. But I eventually told him that it makes mommy & daddy sad when he doesn't use his listening ears in school. And do you know what he turned around and then said? Well I'll tell you. He said, 'well does it make God & the angels sad when I don't listen? I don't want to make God & the angels sad'.
I share that short conversation with you to merely make point. There are many times in life where God is wanting you to do and/or go somewhere... To say and/or release something... But when we don't adhere to the Word of God, then that's a response of, 'But I Don't Want To'! Mad disrespectful, right?! Well that too makes God sad!
You see, I find myself doing just that in what I believe is to be my calling. And there is only so long that the Lord is going to let me run before he snatches me up. I'm totally trying my hardest to get there before He has to do that. But you may be able to relate in other areas. Maybe He's closed a door several times, & you keep opening it back up. Maybe He's told you in so many ways to go right, and you keep nudging left, as if you didn't hear Him.
In Deuteronomy 13:4 it reads - It is the Lord your God you must follow, and Him you must revere (admire/respect). Keep His commands & obey Him, serve Him & hold fast to Him.
I WANT TO LORD! That should be our moving forward response!
Even though it wont be easy, you've got to want your responses to be: I want to move when You move... I want to hear how You hear... I want to be Christ-like... I want to spread the Word... I want to do Your will Lord! I WANT TO!
Can you say that you agree & can walk in this? If you can't, that's cool... No one is perfect. But when you know better, you do better! There will be moments of backsliding, but that's just when you have to interrupt that back slide with, 'I Want Your Help Lord'. As long as He sees you're genuinely trying, He'll supply you all you need to press forward. Trust!
